The first 1/2 of this book is pretty much devoted to Mary's traumatic childhood where she is exposed to huge amounts of cruelty from her father and his mother and her religion were Mary's only she became queen by accident,the results were not Ann boleyn's title of "the great whore" and Mary tudor's "Bloody.The compelling story of Mary's Very disappointed. I knew David Loades of reputation, which is why I bought his biography of Mary "Rose" Tudor, but I have to say he didn't do a very good job at writing a biography here. Someone wrote that Mary is the focus of 40% of the biography and it's quite true.
